Job Title: Parks Laborer 

Job Type: Full-Time Seasonal

Hours: 40/week, Mon-Friday

The Town of Wynyard Recreation Department is accepting applications for Parks and Green Space Maintenance Staff this summer. Class 5 Drivers license Required.

Anticipated Start/End Date: May – August 2025

Number of Positions: 3

Wages: $16-$18/hr depending on experience

Job Description:

Reporting to the Parks Foreman in the Department of Leisure Services, this position is responsible for the maintenance of green spaces, boulevards, sidewalks and sports fields, including:

• Operation of motorized equipment including riding mowers, tractors and utility vehicles in a safe and efficient manner
• Operate hand held power tools in a safe and efficient manner
• Duties such as mowing, trimming, tree pruning, landscaping, weeding and general outdoor maintenance and refuse management.

Job Requirements: 

• Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team 
• Maintain effective working relationships and demonstrate strong communication
• Strong problem solving skills
• Physical fitness ability to lift over 30lbs
• Ability to perform duties and represent the Town of Wynyard with integrity and respect for the public, colleagues and supervisors
• Other tasks as required for the effective operations of the Department of Leisure Services.

Job title: Public Works Seasonal Laborer

Job Description:

Reporting to the Town Superintendent this position is responsible for a variety of tasks within the public works department including:

• assisting with street repairs, water and sewer line repairs
• reading water meters
• cleaning and maintenance of Town owned buildings and equipment
• May also be required to support the parks department for tasks such as trimming and removal of trees and branches etc.

 Job Requirements: 

• Mechanical skills
• Physical fitness ability to lift over 30lbs
• Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team 
• Maintain effective working relationships and demonstrate strong communication
• Strong problem solving skills
• Ability to perform duties and represent the Town of Wynyard with integrity and respect for the public, colleagues and supervisors
• A valid Class 5 driver’s license is mandatory.

Job title: Waterworks Operator 

Job Type: Full-Time Permanent

Job Description:

The successful applicant should be a self-motivated individual who will be responsible for assisting in the effective management, operation, and maintenance of a Trident II Water Treatment Plant Class II, and Water Distribution System Class II, Wastewater Collection System Calss II, and Wastewater Treatment System Class I. 

 Job Requirements: 

• Grade 12 High School Diploma or GED is required 
• Preference will be given to candidates who hold a Class II Certification 
• A Class 5 Drivers Licence is required. 
• This position requires some shift work, call-back, and standby including nights and weekends, the successful candidate must be able to work without supervision.

Job Description:

Duties may include but not are not limited to, safe and competent operation of Town equipment, maintenance and repair of town equipment, snow removal, street sweeping, etc. 

 Job Requirements: 

• Operating experience on the following equipment: 
  • Backhoe, loader, grader, gravel truck, street sweeper, skid-steer, tracor w/ attachments 
  • A Valid class 5 drivers licence is mandatory (Class 3A or greater is definitely an asset) 

Job title: Public Works Labourer  

Job Type: Full-Time Permanent 

Hours: 40/week, Mon-Friday

Job Description:
